If you have reached till interview process, Kudos! You have come a long way. But this is not all. You still have a long way to go. To get into any premier B-School, Interview is the most crucial part. Interview holds as much as 50% of weightage in some colleges and even more in a specific few. Remember, In an interview, the panel is looking for the reasons to select you. The interview is a selection procedure. To reject, they have already taken CAT. Cat is the exam where mass rejection happens. But it is imperative to ace this interview because now you are going to compete with the best of the best. Here are a few tips to prepare well:

Prepare an introduction like a roadmap: The very first question is usually, Tell me about yourself. Now, this is the chance in your hand to lead the interview in your direction. The introduction should be a roadmap of your life. It should include everything necessary about your background, your education, academic achievements, your work experience, and followed by your strengths and hobbies. This should give a fair idea to the interviewer who you are. Remember, this is where they will form an opinion about you. Hence, be prepared to make an excellent first impression and nail it with full confidence. Avoid any unimportant information to mention in the introduction to keep it short.

Think through why you want to do an MBA: Why MBA is the favorite question of the interviewers, and undoubtedly it is the most difficult question as well. To answer this question, you need to find out what your future goals are and how getting an MBA degree is going to help you achieve this. If you are already a working professional, Try to find out the gap that MBA will fill in achieving your work goals.

Remember, the interview panel would consist of 2 or 3 professors. In some cases, it might be two professors and one professional from the industry. The professors are there to teach, and they are interested in taking students who are willing to learn. Hence, show them your thirst to learn.

There might be instances when the interviewer might look uninterested, or they may criticize everything you. In this situation, they are trying to gauge how you would react under pressure. And how do you bounce back after a setback? Make it a point to smile throughout and be calm. It’s ok not to know a few things. The best strategy here is to tell them honestly that you don’t know it. Don’t try to say something to sound smart if you are not sure. It will fire back in your face.
